On a sad note we would like to inform you that:

Fred Manning passed away on Tuesday 24th August 2010 in the early hours, he had left a note to pass the message to his old mates at the surf club.

Bickies has done a brief history of his association with the club below:


Fred gained his Bronze in the 1975/6 season at the remarkable age of 53.
Fred was a fighter pilot during the Second World War, serving in the Pacific Theatre where he flew Beaufighters, mainly in shipping strikes and support of troops during landings.
Fred was of a very generous nature and helped the club in many ways.
The most lasting donation was Fred's deck. Before this deck the main deck above the beachside and the deck outside the bar were not joined.
Fred changed all that. But before we could pour the deck we had to build that rather large column on the south eastern corner.
This was made using rocks from the beach - hundreds of them . Fred made us carry them all up and then he placed them himself.
This was one column that was not going to move.
We have had several storms since but Fred's column still stands.
A suitable plaque will be placed near the deck in memory of our old mate Fred.

61st Club Annual Report

Please note that you can download the 61st Annual Report  in a PDF form which is 1MB, alternatively you are able to pick a hard copy up from the surf club the day of the AGM on the 15th August.

 

Sippers

Sippers is a family oriented, regular function held for Club members and their friends. It's a relaxed environment with music, bar and BBQ. Sippers is usually held on the Last Friday evening of every month during season - from approx 6.00pm onwards. Sippers is run by volunteers and helping out is a great way to meet people. Keep an eye on the website for upcoming dates.
