    Bilgola Surfboats win 2 GOLD Medals – Masters Aussies 2019

    Bilgola wins two GOLDs at Aussies – The Australian Lifesaving Championships 2019   The Australian Life Saving Championships 2019 started last Saturday and Bilgola has already won two golds, a first in 10 years.   The first was won by our 200yrs Masters Men Sweep Ben Gill and Crew Norm Pounder, Mark Parsons, Garrett Smith and Grant Jacobs.   The Second Aussie Gold Medal was the 140Years Men’s crew again with Sweep Ben Gill and Crew Jason Crump, Mathew Nugent, Luke Perrin and Mark Hooley.   Well done, acknowledgement of the effort and passion by our crews.

    Things you need to know… ENTER HERE Swim: Bilgola Ocean Swims Date, Time: Sunday, January 13, 2019, start 9am (500m), 10am (1.5km) Organiser: Bilgola SLSC Where: Bilgola Beach, Sydney northern beaches Distances: 500m, 1.5km (Note that the 500m swim is a new distance at Billy.) Minimum age: 15 (both swims) Course: The main swim starts in the middle of Bilgola beach, runs out through the break, heads towards the northern headland, then south towards the southern headland, then back in to finish near where it starts in the middle of the beach. Race day check-in: At Bilgola SLSC, from 8am to close 8:45am (800m) and 9:45am (1.5km) Entry fee: $35 online for one swim, or for both…

Outstanding Awards at SNB AoE evening

Bilgola acknowledged at Sydney Northern Beaches SLS Awards of Excellence evening Dennis O’Toole, Bilgola SLSC Life Member (2001) was awarded Life Membership of Sydney Northern Beaches SLS at their Awards of Excellence (AoE) evening last Friday night. Dennis obtained his Bronze Medallion in 1966, joining Bilgola SLSC in 1978.  He has held numerous committee positions both for Bilgola (2003 – 2017) and Branch including Vice President Bilgola SLSC (1995 – 1997) and President Bilgola SLSC (1998 – 2002).  Level One Official at Sydney Northern Beaches Branch (2008 – 2018) and in 2010 was awarded Distinguished Service Member of Sydney Northern Beaches Branch.  He has attended all surfboat carnivals in the capacity of ‘starter’, including local,…

Natalie Gartner and Norm Pounder have joined the esteemed ranks of the ASRL Hall of Fame, alongside Don McManus and Mel MacPherson. Natalie is regarded as a life-long ‘boatie’ having rowed for the past 21 consecutive years. Her list of achievements reflects the hard work and dedication she continues to apply. Not only is she regarded as a phenomenal sportsperson, both tough and fierce, but she is also respected for her fairness. Norm Pounder has achieved an enviable record during his 29 years of competitive rowing. Highly respected for his life of dedication and commitment to the sport and to the Bilgola Surf Club.
