    Things you need to know… ENTER HERE Swim: Bilgola Ocean Swims Date, Time: Sunday, January 13, 2019, start 9am (500m), 10am (1.5km) Organiser: Bilgola SLSC Where: Bilgola Beach, Sydney northern beaches Distances: 500m, 1.5km (Note that the 500m swim is a new distance at Billy.) Minimum age: 15 (both swims) Course: The main swim starts in the middle of Bilgola beach, runs out through the break, heads towards the northern headland, then south towards the southern headland, then back in to finish near where it starts in the middle of the beach.     Nippers Know-How nipper calendar   Welcome to another amazing Nippers season at Bilgola Surf Life saving club. Bilgola is an all-inclusive family club in which your children and you can have lots of fun, make new friends and learn skills for life. Children are taught to respect and read the surf and to use it to their advantage in a safe environment. Activities vary, depending on age and skill level and include beach sprints, relays, ‘flags’, tug-of-war, wading, swimming, board paddling, surfing and lots of other games. The emphasis is on having fun while learning new skills. They can also compete in Northern Beaches inter-club competitions, Sydney Branch and state carnivals. After Nippers there’s always the BBQ…

Natalie Gartner and Norm Pounder have joined the esteemed ranks of the ASRL Hall of Fame, alongside Don McManus and Mel MacPherson. Natalie is regarded as a life-long ‘boatie’ having rowed for the past 21 consecutive years. Her list of achievements reflects the hard work and dedication she continues to apply. Not only is she regarded as a phenomenal sportsperson, both tough and fierce, but she is also respected for her fairness. Norm Pounder has achieved an enviable record during his 29 years of competitive rowing. Highly respected for his life of dedication and commitment to the sport and to the Bilgola Surf Club. Bilgola Triumph at Australian Surf Rowers League

Bilgola surf boat rowers created history over the weekend at the ASRL Open at Shellharbour by winning both the inaugural u19 women’s and women’s reserve grade titles. The is the first time these 2 events have been held at such a major national carnival. The Sweetcheeks u23 women (Alicia Jackson, Ella smith, Caitlin Lowe, Tiani Schaeffer, swept by  the legend Don McManus) were victorious in all their races across the weekend and chased down a great wave in their final to snatch victory in a very competitive race.
